Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 3

The organization retains the services of a management company to handle the general operations of the business. The management companys employees provide the organizations executive director. Desiree barquin was paid 1,179 during 4/29/25-7/10/25, and jessica painter was paid 28,678 during 2024 from the management company for the services provided to the organization during the year.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6

Members shall hold a current license as a psychologist from the arizona board of psychologist examiners, and/or be a member or fellow of the american psychological association, and/or hold a doctoral degree in psychology from a regionally accredited institution. Sustaining members shall be members of the association, with all rights, privileges, and responsibilities of that classification, and shall have voluntarily elected to pay dues at a higher rate in return for recognition of this status. Post-doctoral members shall have completed a doctoral degree in psychology or a related field that qualifies for licensure as a psychologist and be actively pursuing arizona state requirements for licensure as a psychologist. Out of state members shall meet requirements necessary as a full member, and reside outside the state of arizona. Life members shall be members of the association who have reached the age of 65 and who have retired from professional service have been members of the association for at least 20 years have submitted a written request to the governing council of the association to have their membership status changed to life member shall be exempt from dues to reflect the associations appreciation for their contributions to azpa over their years of membership but shall be encouraged to make a voluntary contribution. Retired members shall have previously met all requirements of full or out of state members if no longer licensed or an azpa member, have voluntary relinquished such licensure or membership while in good standing have reached the age of 65 and have applied for status as a retired member. Student affiliates shall be graduate students in psychology at an accredited university and be actively pursuing an advanced degree in psychology. Undergraduate student members shall be any undergraduate student enrolled at an accredited university and be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree.

At each board meeting, if there is a discussion of selecting or engaging a vendor or service provider, all in attendance are asked to recuse themselves from this discussion if there could be a perceived conflict. Annually, the organization reviews and discusses the conflict of interest policy and requests that each board member list and acknowledge any known conflicts.

The entire board reviews the compensation of individuals in like positions and in comparable organizations using forms 990 and other available data. The board then approves any changes in compensation based on this information. Currently, the organization has no paid officers or employees.
