Mission and Program Overview

Mission

We are the non-profit insurance trade association dedicated to the growth and sustainability of the global specialty distribution marketplace through networking, education, and advocacy. We are focused on underwriting expertise and integrity.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Meetings and seminars - the aamga conducts the following meetings and seminars during the course of each year: (a) january board of directors meeting; (b) annual insurance automation and technology management conference (march) at which i/t, cio and other technology professionals from member companies - as well as members of the national association of professional surplus lines organizations (napslo) are in attendance. Vendors of automation/technology goods and services related to the wholesale insurance marketplace participate in the annual trade show. Seminars, educational programs, roundtable discussions and panel forums are conducted; (c) annual meeting (may) see above; (d) committee day (june): annual meeting of all standing aamga committee co-chairs, board liaisons, and committee members to establish goals, objectives and the annual budget. The event is preceded by a meeting of the board of directors, as well as followed by a second meeting of the board to review and approve the committee budget requests and approve the association's budget for the coming fiscal year; (e) under forty organization annual meeting (september) brings the young leaders of the organization together, who are employed by the corporate members. Pursuant to their bylaws, elections are held, educational sessions are provided, and networking among the members from the us and uk/germany is conducted along with team building exercises; (f) the association sponsors the semi-annual meeting of the surplus lines law group every other year. The meeting brings together the general counsel, regulators and legislators of surplus lines insurance companies, agents and brokers, as well as the state stamping and surplus lines offices, and representatives from insurance trade associations who engage in the wholesale insurance distribution market.
Activity 3
Communications - the aamga communicates with its members regularly in various formats - blast e-mails, personal correspondence, quarterly newsletters and the annual report. Members are kept apprised on the progress of the association's efforts, legislative, regulatory and court opinion updates, meeting and other announcements, wholesale insurance industry developments and related information. The association also utilizes social media for transmission of information to members via linkedin, facebook and twitter.
