Our theatre education program is created to introduce stage and tech to high school students. In addition to learning all about theatre and stage, students will build social skills and communication skills. Involvement in drama courses and performance has been shown to improve student's self esteem as well as their confidence in their academic abilities.

“Field trip fees: we had two field trips during the 2021-2022 school year. We traveled to thescon where the students were able to see their peers perform in shows, participate in classes such as dance, acting, puppetry, accents, and several other classes related to the theatre. The second field trip was to new york city where the students saw several broadway shows, had an acting class with broadway actors, and toured various parts of the city. There were 53 students who participated in these field trips.”
“Show nights: our program performed five shows, one competition peice, and one muscial during the 2021-2022 school year. We also hosted three shows performed by other programs which included some of our own students. Four of the five shows were class shows, meaning the students taking a drama class during the year would participate in the class show either as an actor, stage director, set crew, technical crew, and etc. We encourage all of our students to participate in the nonclass shows including those performed by other programs.”
“Fundraisers and other: we held several fundraisers throughout the 2021-2022 school year. These included a car wash, selling jeep raffle tickets, selling krispy kreme donuts, a show for the elementary students to come watch, and a drama camp for elementary and middle school students. We also sold tshirts and raised funds throught a drama club. Of these, our biggest fundraisers are the elementary show and the drama camp. We showcase our program to up and coming students and let them see how drama can impact their lives. After the elementary performances, the younger students are able to meet to the actors/actresses. In drama camp, the students in our program are also able to interact and mentor the younger students as they are the leaders of small groups and show the children how to put on a show and then perform for their parents at the end of camp.”
