“Salus center hosts 12 peer support groups with 19 monthly meetings, 8 other recurring monthly events, and bi-weekly resource hours. Through resource hours, the center distributed health and wellness resources ranging from hygiene products and menstrual products to emergency contraception, harm reduction items, and gender affirming items to hundreds of people in the lansing area. The center hosted free tax clinics, passport services, and the secretary of state mobile unit for events during resource hours. Through work as part of the gender affirmation project, the salus center supported transgender and nonbinary people getting access to financial and logistical support for legal name and gender marker changes. The salus center held a second annual adult prom and a third annual trans day of visibility celebration to build and affirm the 2slgbtqia+ community in the greater lansing area. Additionally, the center collaborated with various other local organizations, such as michigan state universitys gender and sexuality campus center, lansing area aids network, the capital area district library, and ingham county health department. By attending and tabling at 25 community events, the salus center connected with thousands of additional people in the greater lansing area.”

THROUGH WORK AS PART OF THE GENDER AFFIRMATION PROJECT, THE SALUS CENTER SUPPORTED TRANSGENDER AND NONBINARY PEOPLE GETTING ACCESS TO FINANCIAL AND LOGISTICAL SUPPORT FOR LEGAL NAME AND GENDER MARKER CHANGES. THE SALUS CENTER HELD A SECOND ANNUAL ADULT PROM AND A THIRD ANNUAL TRANS DAY OF VISIBILITY CELEBRATION TO BUILD AND AFFIRM THE 2SLGBTQIA+ COMMUNITY IN THE GREATER LANSING AREA. ADDITIONALLY, THE CENTER COLLABORATED WITH VARIOUS OTHER LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS, SUCH AS MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITYS GENDER AND SEXUALITY CAMPUS CENTER, LANSING AREA AIDS NETWORK, THE CAPITAL AREA DISTRICT LIBRARY, AND INGHAM COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT. BY ATTENDING AND TABLING AT 25 COMMUNITY EVENTS, THE SALUS CENTER CONNECTED WITH THOUSANDS OF ADDITIONAL PEOPLE IN THE GREATER LANSING AREA. |
