“The Georgia Logistics Association (GLA) is a member-driven non-profit association of Georgia-based corporate entities dedicated to facilitating, cultivating, and sharing supply chain and logistics innovation and best practices in a charitable and educational way regarding topics of every aspect of transportation, logistics, and supply chain management throughout Georgia, the Southeastern United States and it's trading partners throughout the world. The GLA had a program of fundraising and received contributions from many sources, including the general public, governmental agencies, corporations, private foundations or other public charities, and will receive income in the form of sponsorships and donations from the conduct of activities in furtherance of the organization's exempt purposes. The GLA began as a grassroots effort when a number of volunteers (all executives) came together in search of a platform for sharing knowledge, education, and experiences in the field of logistics with a guiding focus of impact and problem solving. Seeking impact to companies rather than individuals, the association has three primary pillars: Industry collaboration through forums and events, including annual Georgia Logistics Conference, helping members to knowledge and share best practices. Technology innovation hosting a showcase of cloud-based supply chain and logistics innovation (SCALI) technologies. SCALI is a platform for innovative software companies to showcase their solutions and demonstrate how companies can leverage emerging technologies. Facilitation of meaningful logistics related impact projects, supporting Georgia and the southeast to be the most efficient logistics hub in the United States and to promote benefits to the community and to those logistics professionals participating in organizations of the logistics and transportation community. Supporting organizations also contributing volunteer time and supporting resources: Georgia Tech, Supply Chain and Logistics Institute, Georgia Center of Innovation for Logistics (GA Economic Development) Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce (MACOC), Activ Technologies, Valentine Solutions, DSV, Hapag Lloyd, Dematic, etc. The GLA held a few networking receptions to facilitate networking and introductions for individuals whose roles are in logistics related roles within their organizations. The purpose of networking is to facilitate education and learnings required to solve complex problems that today's environment poses on supply chain and logistics management. The events could not cover costs without supporting contributions from organizations and volunteers. The association was very much still of interest to the community to have a platform to share information and provide educational support for a very challenging but critical operational function in a very difficult economic environment, fueled with supply chain and logistics challenges, with very few places to turn to gain knowledge needed in such a volatile period. It was decided that we would support the promotion of other logistics related activities and events that were already established in addition to gaining support for growing the association and keep costs to a minimum given there were little contributions to fund new activities and difficult to market/or outreach to the logistics community with little funds. The volunteers of the association were focused on two key initiatives in addition to the networking events and educational forums: 1.The creation of an annual golf classic to promote networking and a platform for building new relationships for the exchange of knowledge and ideas, to create and annual event that could beachhead support, and to raise operational funding for the association's operating expenses. 2. To establish and create the supply chain and logistics innovation showcase (SCALI). SCALI is a non profit exhibition to further the knowledge and education of a variety of logistics innovations, especially those”
