Mission for IFS The mission of IFS is to enhance the capabilities and self-sufficiency of marginalized immigrant and refugee communities in king county to achieve improved quality of life and reach their full potential through access to, and advocacy for, services and resources that will keep them safe, healthy and active while preventing family disintegration. Who We Are & What We Do Integration Family Services (IFS) was founded at the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic as a grassroots effort by East African childcare providers, parents, and families to create a central network of health, housing, social services, education, and employment resources and trusted support for Somali communities. IFS serves as a regional hub that nurtures and supports individuals, children and families in historically underserved East African immigrant and refugee communities through culturally relevant and language- specific services and programs.--
YOUTH EMPOWERMENT Youth Empowerment Program primarily come from lower-income immigrant/minority populations. This 8-week program will empower youth to build the skills and confidence to reach their full potential and enact positive change in their communities. This program has impacted about 20-25 young people and has been a safe youth space for them to be creative, get homework help, socialize with friends and participate in community events. We have had success in the youth attending Workshops (culturally specific mental health and wellness); life-building skills, conversations, and support around race and social justice issues.--
NEIGHBOR TO NEIGHBORWe provide a Kent, WA based women's support group for family resources and questions and answer monthly meetings.20-35 BIPOC women get together once a month to discuss community events, resources, concerns and learn from each other while sharing a meal. We provided transportation and childcare.--
CHILDCARE PROVIDER RESOURCESWe provide business planning and resources to childcare providers, stipends to purchase PPE supplies, assistance with licensing documents, resource research, and connection toCOVID-19 community resources. We provide services to 100-250 area in home childcare providers in the king county area. We offered referrals for other services and provided application assistance for funds, stimulus and translation services as needed.--
DIVERSION PROGRAM The Diversion Program is a critical resource in the homeless crisis response system. Diversion is a service strategy that uses problem-solving conversations and personal advocacy to help a household identify practical solutions for resolving their housing crisis quickly and safely. Households are prompted to identify safe housing options and solutions based on their own available resources, not those of the homeless crisis response system.--
