3 Kings Project remains unwavering in its mission to eliminate health inequities within Black and Brown LGBTQ communities by promoting positive representation, visibility, and culturally competent care. Focused on underserved and rural areas, particularly across the South, our work tackles the root causes of health disparities that disproportionately affect LGBTQ individuals of color. We believe health outcomes improve when communities are seen and heard and provided with the care and resources they deserve. In August 2023, we hosted "Love Brings Change: Southern HIV Awareness Day", shining a light on the socioeconomic barriers driving new HIV infections in southern communities. This event spurred critical dialogue on stigma and limited healthcare access, two key issues affecting health outcomes in the South. By working directly within rural communities, we built trust and began breaking down the stigma surrounding HIV, making strides toward real change. Throughout 2023 and 2024, we expanded our efforts to support underserved populations, especially LGBTQ youth under 24 and transgender individuals. Through partnerships with Kiki Houses and Ballroom organizations, we engaged over 200 transgender individuals. We reached many LGBTQ youth by creating safe spaces virtual and in-person-where they could openly discuss health and identity issues. This engagement allowed us to directly address barriers to healthcare and connect them with the services they need. In November 2023, we launched a community health initiative in New York City in collaboration with the House of Juicy Couture and the Hedrick Martin Institute, where over 1,000 minority LGBTQ youth were screened for STIs, reconnected to care, and referred to PrEP services. This large-scale event highlighted our commitment to providing accessible, culturally competent healthcare to those most at risk. March 2024 saw the debut of AMPLIFY 2024, our first advocacy conference in Atlanta, Georgia, where 90 LGBTQ community leaders from across the South participated in capacity-building workshops. This four-day event focused on leadership development, resource access, and HIV advocacy, equipping local leaders to combat health inequities in their communities. This conference exemplified our commitment to fostering leadership and amplifying community voices in the fight for equitable healthcare. Our work within the House and Ballroom community across the South, including states like Florida, Texas, Alabama, and North Carolina, remains a cornerstone of our strategy. We've collaborated with community leaders and local agencies to design programming that addresses stigma, promotes health initiative participation, and advocates for comprehensive services. These partnerships, along with our engagement with government bodies, ensure that LGBTQ individuals in traditionally underserved areas receive the culturally competent care they need. Our national advocacy efforts culminated in September 2023, when we participated in the U.S. Conference on AIDS (USCA) in Washington, DC. There, we shared our experiences on a national platform, highlighting the importance of collaborating with marginalized communities to promote health equity. This experience reinforced our role as advocates and enabled us to exchange strategies with other organizations working toward the same goals. 3 Kings Project continues to build a legacy of advocacy and direct service, ensuring that the most vulnerable members of our community receive the care and attention they deserve. Our work will not stop until we've eliminated health disparities in the South and created a more equitable future for all.
