The review of form 990 is conducted prior to it being filed and a final copy of the form 990 is provided to each member of the board of directors of the usc health system before it is filed.”
“As a related organization of the usc health system, the organization follows the health system's policies including the conflict of interest policy. The conflict of interest policy covers all interested persons employees and their close relations. Interested persons will continue to be subject to the policy for five years after ceasing to be an interested person. An "interested person" means any director, member of any committee appointed by the board (whether or not such person is a director), principal officer, or key employee who has a direct or indirect financial interest in a contemplated transaction or arrangement. In connection with any actual or potential conflict of interest, an interested person must fully disclose the existence of and all material facts related to the financial interest that gives rise to the actual or potential conflict of interest. Such disclosure shall be made to the chair of the board, the chair of the executive committee, or the chair of such other committee of the board as is authorized to review such transaction or arrangement referred to as an "appropriate committee". Its outpatient services include cardiac rehabilitation, diagnostic testing, emergency and life-threatening needs of adults and children in the community. Fast-track service is available around-the-clock for minor cases. The usc verdugo hills hospital physical medicine and rehabilitation department serves those who are in need of support in the areas of physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. The hospital will spend 100% of its time operating these hospital facilities and funds its activities through patient revenue from services rendered to patients and furnishing of the hospital's facilities in activities related to the hospital's exempt purposes. The hospital is also active in community health education, sponsoring numerous outreach programs throughout the local community. In particular, the hospital sponsors a variety of classes, seminars, lectures, and screenings each year devoted to increasing public awareness of healthcare. For example, the hospital provides community education and training with respect to disease prevention and health and wellness, including infant care, cancer treatment, art therapy, gerd, pain management, organ donation, cancer, fitness, nutrition, senior fall prevention, suicide prevention, childbirth preparation, and orthopaedic care.
