| Events - In 2021 Vivid Black Paint hosted or was a guest program at 10 small and mid-sized events for the community and one celebratory event that directly supported the drag artist of color Be Be Zahara. 4 of those events were small pop up events that served around 50-60 people and utilized about 10 volunteers and paid 4 circus artists of color and meant to provide a small pocket of relief either for a few minutes or a few hours to passersby or those who intentionally attended. The other 4 were a part of our connection to larger community events that altogether allowed us to connect with over 3500 people. For 3 of those events we were able to encourage and support over 200 people try circus arts. 2 of those events were our Vivid Nights events that introduces people to the world of Black Fairies and "Our Fairy Garden." In partnership with Can Can Wonderland, a local arts based public benefit corporation, we were able to create a world for adults and children alike where they could immerse and feel a bit of whimsical joy for a little over an hour with us and then commune with the cast after the show. These two events and the partnership with Can Can, allowed Vivid black Paint to pay 8-10 artists of color per show for their creative output. | $25,662 | $13,413 |
| Cirque Wellness & The Arts - This year we were able to provide about 250 people with a chance to try circus arts. With that, Vivid Black Paint was able to establish a partnership with a local circus arts studio, Stomping Ground Studio. This has allowed us to offer 2 circus & wellness classes every week at a reduced cost to folks who identify as "people of color" and at an accesible time for the community at large. We also were able to begin the process of connecting with local groups that support youth at different stages in life and with their social experience to be able to experience cirque wellness over consecutive weeks in small groups together. The Stomping Ground has also donated 22 hours of free training space for the Vivid Black Paint's circus crew which allows them to conitnue honing their skill in performance and coaching to then provide better performance and coachin to the public. | $10,509 | $15,057 |
| Vivid Black Paint Community House - This is a program that Vivid Black Paint has dedicated around 150 hours towards developing and becoming knowledgeable in implementing successfully. The executive director joined a 8 month program called "Building a Foundation" through Urban Land Institute (a national organization that supports developers, realtors and various people connected with the successful acquisition and development or land and property) that is meant to build their foundational understanding of successful acquisition and completion of property type projects. In our particular case, better understand the options and complexities of attaining a property and flipping it to become an affordable housing option. Our Executive Director also joined their mentorship program to be able to recieve more direct support to move forward with this project. Vivid Black Paint was also able to work with two black female architects to hone our design idea for the Community House and produce conceptual renderings. These efforts allow Vivid Black Paint to be on track to secure land to build on or a home to renovate a home to become The Vivid Black Paint Community House by the end of 2022. The Community House will provide an opportunity, particularly, for young artists of color to live in a home together with other artist of color that also provides creatives spaces, that are most likely to be a dance/movement studio, media center and art room, and supportive programming to help them further their creative interests while also providing an affordable housing option. A bit of wiggle room to create for the sake of creating versus creating to make it. This is the single most important program we will provide to our community, especially with the current deficit in affordable housing in a very creatively focused and financially supported state. | $3,484 | $4,178 |
