Once the final draft of the 990 is prepared, it is first reviewed by outside tax counsel prior to being presented to the Treasurer of the Board for review. Upon successful review and any necessary changes, the 990 form is then reviewed and approved by the Executive Committee, followed by review and approval from the entire Governing Board. Once all approvals have been met, the return is filed accordingly with the IRS.

Conflicts of interest are handled according to the Board approved COI policy. The organization did not encounter any conflicts of interest this year.

The Governing Board, excluding any member with an interest in the Executive Director's compensation, conducts an annual review of compensation for the ED. The Board gathers comparability data from recent nonprofit salary surveys, IRS 990 disclosures of peer organizations, and regional compensation reports. Compensation recommendations are discussed, adjusted as needed, and approved in formal meetings. All decisions are documented in meeting minutes.
