“(i) beginning in 2020, in the throes of covid, rev. Linda zastovnik, ordained clergy in the united methodist church, began wakening ministry l.l.c. Initially, it's primary purpose was to provide quality christian education and connect people across the miles, many of whom had become disenchanted with, and even harmed by, the church. We meet people where they are - in their homes - and offer multiple and creative ways to connect with others. We invite personal relationships and deep conversation with each study. Some studies have even grown to become a support group, "circle of friends", that informs and strengthens christian faith. (ii) to make disciples for jesus christ through trusting relationships and relevant studies, both in-person and online, by means of: (a) exciting bible studies and book studies; (b) creative classes and groups that foster spiritual growth; (c) caring support for those living with cancer and grief; (d) experienced church ministry consulting for all age levels; (e) qualified training for church leaders; (f) specialized christian education classes; (g) personalized holy land pilgrimages. “During 2024, wakening ministry (wm) continues to connect with people seeking to understand christian faith and living a life that reflects that faith. Our community spans across the miles, including persons from 27 states, and even into canada. Our ministry focuses on quality rather than quantity - meaning we seek to deepen the friendships we are making. While we welcome all and seek to share this ministry beyond all limits, we strive to strengthen the relationships of those who are currently attending. During 2024, we began "postcards from the camper," where video messages are posted on youtube and emailed to our mailing list. These are quick-hit, less than 10-minute, videos that connect a faith-based message to camping out in god's wonderful gift of nature. We are continuing the momentum we started in 2020 and look forward to strengthening and increasing our community. The primary draw continues to be online book and bible studies, but also involves thought provoking religious and cultural studies. These include a book study - "wakening anti-racism" - initially explored to learn more about black history in america, and is now moving onto teaching about jewish history in israel. Wakening ministry continues to exist due to the ongoing generosity of our donors. While there is a cost for one-on-one spiritual direction and pastoral care, retreats, and pilgrimages, all classes and the "circle of friends" are offered at no charge.”
