Mission

Founded in 2013 The SHE Projects mission is to recognize gaps in knowledge and networks for Black girls and women in which to offer a pathway to HOPE Health Opportunity Purpose and Education Empowerment by offering exposure to multifaceted experiences to cultivate leadership skills through education physical mental health career social change and service to the communities in which they live learn work and play.We provide education resources and coaching to girls women and the communities in which they live.

Our second community program is the Health and Hygiene Project HHP a health centered initiative The SHE Project is collaborating with local schools in the Jackson Public School district to provide hygiene products to students as no cost. The closets contain soap washcloths deodorant feminine products toothbrushes toothpaste and lotion. All of which are essential items for not only wellness but reduce the likelihood of bullying because of the lack of cleanliness. 3. For African American women we have implemented START UP! which is an economic initiative that provides start-up funding to African American females who are desiring to start their own business. With START UP! we provide funding for the state and local fees associated with starting a small business. This includes Secretary of State Fees and city business license fees. 4. The Freshmen Experiences: A program is held once a year for young women preparing to go to college. The 4 hour session invites parents and first-generation college students to speak with college representatives. Our Stories Our Voices does just that. The proposed program involves a media-based campaign that will promote health and wellness among Black women free from HIV stigma fear and shame through a YouTube series and printed material. Our campaign is designed to promote self-love and self-care by focusing on the beauty and diversity among Black women; and will include women of varying ages sexual orientation body types skin tones and lived experiences. Through the creation of a regional community advisory board Our Stories Our Voices will partner with local Black women to develop and disseminate the proposed media campaign ensuring that new community messengers are born to ensure Black women's voices are heard respected elevated and considered.
