“Dr. Tracis House kicked off the new year with a tribute to its commitment to childhood literacy and early childhood education in collaboration with the Greater Tampa Chapter of Jack and Jill of America Inc. Both mission driven organizations worked together to provide the community with access to free donated books in a book giveaway at the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Parade Experience in Tampa on January 15, 2024. Dr. Tracis House proudly distributed black and brown books to local children who attended the parade as part of its community outreach efforts. Additionally, Dr. Tracis House supported local agencies in a voter registration drive to ensure their contact information was updated and any requests for absentee ballots were submitted. Dr Tracis House is truly living the dream as MLK Day was not a day off but a Day On for service to the community. As part of its multi-year grant from the North Greenwood ARPA grant, Dr. Tracis House collaborated with Artz4Life and Simply Sweet Ls to provide free community garden workshops throughout the year. These educational workshops included attendees of all ages with specific workshops at the after-school center for the North Greenwood youth along with adult workshops attended by local residents. On January 16, 2024, heaven gained a new angel with the passing of a dear friend of Dr. Tracis House, Sharon Noel. For over 14 years, Sharon had been a constant ray of sunshine to countless friends and family. In honor of her memory, Dr. Tracis House created the Sharon Noel Scholarship Fund so that her legacy of service, caring and compassion will continue for generations to come...and she will finally get her wish to be a lasting part of Dr. Traci's House. In May of 2024, Dr. Tracis House honored the first recipient of this scholarship to a deserving senior at a local Title 1 high school who plans to pursue a career in healthcare. Dr. Tracis House is proud to be among the selected recipients for the Clearwater North Greenwood grants funded by the American Rescue Plan. As part of the grant, Dr. Tracis House, focused on tutoring and mentoring the youth of North Greenwood, along with education and healthy eating opportunities to address food and secure via community gardening. As part of this grant and the need to empower the local businesses in North Greenwood area, Dr. Tracis House partnered with Artz4life to provide tutoring and mentoring to the students at the recreation center and also connected with a local master Gardener from the area, Simply Sweet Ls, who spearheaded the workshops and the instructional sessions in the community garden. The goal was to provide sustainable access to the community in terms of, gardening tips and supplies along with providing the students with the necessary support to continue on their academic pursuits. Dr. Tracis House partnership with local community-based organizations continued with its city-wide event with the Hillsborough County Branch of NAACP for the inaugural Health EXPO and Community Olympics that was held on April 13, 2024 and chaired by Dr. Traci Thompson, the Health Chair for the NAACP, Hillsborough County Branch. With the support from over 30 community partners the Health EXPO and Community Olympics featured a wide variety of workshops led by our community partners including our very own board member who led interactive healthy cooking workshops showcasing the Healthy Living with Dr. Tracis House cooking series. The event increased awareness about the importance of health and wellness through health screenings, nutritional information and an array of fun activities and friendly sports competition. Deborah Palombo continues to be an integral part of Dr. Tracis House and 2024 marked our second full year of chair yoga open to the community. Patients, family members and local residence have been able to experience this relaxing and invigorating Chair yoga series that occurs every Wednesday at noon at Dr. Tracis House.
