Part i line 1:since the year 2000, big brothers big sisters of southeastern new mexico has been matching youth in meaningful, enduring, professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships with screened adult volunteers who defend their potential and help them achieve their biggest possible futures. Our evidence-based approach is designed to create positive youth outcomes, including educational success, avoidance of risky behaviors, higher aspirations, greater confidence, and improved relationships. Part iii line 1:the vision of big brothers big sisters of southeastern new mexico is that all youth achieve their full potential. The mission of the organization is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. The organization and its staff partner with parents/guardians, screened volunteers, and others in the community so that each child in the program achieves higher aspirations, greater confidence, improved relationships, avoidance of risky behaviors, and educational success. On may 4, 2022, the board of the big brothers big sisters of southeast new mexico (bbbssenm) and the board of the big brothers big sisters of central new mexico (bbbscnm) agreed to merge the operations of bbbssenm into bbbscnm.

Footnote for uncertain tax position under FIN 48 (Part X)

Bbbs senm is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)3 of the internal revenue code and the statutes of new mexico. Bbbs senms open audit periods are fiscal years 2018 through 2021 generally three years after filing. In addition, bbbs senm has been classified as other than a private foundation. The financial accounting standards board has issued asc 740-10, which prescribes a comprehensive model for how an organization should measure, recognize, present and disclose in its financial statements uncertain tax positions that an organization has taken or expects to take on a tax return. Bbbs senm has no uncertain tax positions.

OF THE CHILDREN WE SERVED, 50% WERE LIVING WITH GRANDPARENTS OR IN SINGLE PARENT HOUSEHOLDS; 45% CAME FROM FAMILIES THAT RECEIVED INCOME ASSISTANCE; AND 68% WERE ON FREE OR REDUCED LUNCH AT SCHOOL. OUR VOLUNTEERS SPENT AN ESTIMATED 2,112 HOURS MENTORING CHILDREN IN FY 2020-21. INDEPENDENT RESEARCH PROVES THAT CHILDREN IN OUR ONE-TO-ONE MENTORING PROGRAMS ARE MORE LIKELY TO GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL, ARE LESS LIKELY TO USE DRUGS, HAVE IMPROVED SELF-CONFIDENCE, AND HAVE BETTER, STRONGER RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEIR FAMILIES AND OTHERS.
