“When we conducted a detailed review of our accounts, we identified several balance sheet items that had not been thoroughly reviewed in prior years. These accounts were associated with projects completed approximately ten years ago, which the organization no longer owned. The balances had remained on the books because previous accountants had not provided guidance on how to properly clear them. As a result, these amounts continued to appear on prior form 990 filings, despite being outdated. In fiscal year 2024, we recorded journal entries to remove all balances determined to be no longer valid, including amounts related to completed projects and other obsolete items. The total adjustment amounted to $2.8 million.”
