“The corrales cultural arts countil (ccac) provides high quality music performances in a historic, accesssable setting at reasonable cost. Ccac also delivers a music outreach program for the schools in corrales and its surrounding communities.”

“Ccac was formed in 1986 to fill an important need for music and cultural enrichments in its small semi-rural community and the surrounding area. The nearest venues for high quality music performances were too far away and too expensive to be of significant benefit to corrales and its neighboring communities. Ccac was incorporated as a non-profit all volunteer community organization to expand the opportunites for music enrichment and education in corrales and its mid rio grande region of new mexico. Ccac (music in corrales) brings to its stage regional and new mexican artists and artists from around the world such as midori, m5 mexican brass, jasper string quartet, and harlem string quartet to enhance the cultural environment of new mexico's central rio grande valley. The concert season for ccac concists of eight concerts from september through april. Most of the concerts are held in the historic san ysidro church which is now a center for arts, education and community forums. Ccac (music in corrales) has contributed to the maintenance of the church building and provides all concert services. Ccac is an all volunteer organization compensating only contracted services for bookkeeping and tax filings. Only the performing artists are paid.the church building has a seating capacity of 150 in a very intimate setting which is fully accessible and barrier free. Virtually all ccac (music in corrales)concerts are sold out.”

“Although regonal and local schools have returned to music instruction following the covid interruption, many do not offer culturally significant guitar instruction. Beginning with the 2023-2024 school year, ccac (music in schools) underwrote an after-school guitar program at the corrales middle school,including the purchase of all necessary equpment and compensation for a highly qualified instructor. Beginning in school year 2025-2026 ccac (music in schools) continues to subsidize this program. Ccac (music in schools)also continues to enhance music education in middle schools, charter schools and high schools in albuquerque and corrales by having its concert artists conduct master classes and all school performances.”
