“To further the education of new mexico anesthesiologists and to foster relations within the medical community for the advancement of anesthesiology.”

“The new mexico society of anesthesiologists has been very busy advocating for safe patient care. We have a vested interest in making sure patients know who is taking care of them. It is imperative that all clinicians disclose their true title and level of training. We have worked tirelessly trying to pass a truth and transparency bill which would make clinicians misrepresenting themselves by using the term doctor to mean doctor of nursing practice, physician assistant, or certified nurse anesthetist. Sadly, our bill did not pass. We hosted our once every two-year meeting that gathered anesthesiologists together from all over the state. This speaker led continuing medical education forum brought best practice talks from all realms of anesthesiology as well as election for the next set of delegates. We obtained a grant from the american society of anesthesiologists (asa) to help support our plight in the legislature.”
