Mission

The purposes of the chapter shall be to promote the purposes and objectives of the military officers association of america; provide relief to the poor, distressed and/or underprivileged veterans; enhance the morale and protect the rights and interests of members of the uniformed services, their dependents and survivors; provide useful services for members, their dependants and survivors; advance military education and science that benefit the nation; and support veterans' memorials and monuments.

THE ALBUQUERQUE CHAPTER OF THE MILITARY OFFICERS ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA (ALBUMOAA, OR CHAPTER) IS A MEMBER OF THE NM MILITARY/VETERANS LEADERSHIP COUNCIL (MVLC) WHICH SOLELY CONCENTRATES ON STATE LEGISLATIVE ISSUES: CURRENT ISSUES INCLUDE MAKING THE RETIREE TAX EXEMPTION PERMANENT, INCREASING THE VETERANS PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION & INITIATIVES TO ADDRESS VETERANS HOMELESSNESS. AS PART OF THIS COUNCIL, WE MEET THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WITH STATE LEGISLATORS, TESTIFY IN FRONT OF BOTH THE INTERIM HOUSE/SENATE VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITTEES AND REGULAR COMMITTEES DURING THE SESSION. THE CHAPTER HAS AN EXCELLENT GIVING PROGRAM. Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 28

The albuquerque chapter of the military officers association of america (albumoaa, or chapter) is a member of the nm military/veterans leadership council (mvlc) which solely concentrates on state legislative issues: current issues include making the retiree tax exemption permanent, increasing the veterans property tax exemption & initiatives to address veterans homelessness. As part of this council, we meet throughout the year with state legislators, testify in front of both the interim house/senate veterans affairs committees and regular committees during the session. The chapter has an excellent giving program. For 2023: rotc awards (3 college juniors) 1,500.00; blue star mothers - rio grande chapter 1,000.00; blue star mothers - valencia chapter 1,000.00; nm veterans integration center (vic) 3,000.00; fisher house 350.00; paws and stripes 1,000.00; and nm 100 club (support of survivors of killed law enforcement officers) 500.00. The chapter provides jrotc medals to 18 local high schools and rotc medals to three unm programs; members of the chapter personally do the presentation. The chapter has a quarterly social for members with presenters from the community. The chapter does an annual remembrance program for members who deceased in the past 12 months (in conjunction with memorial day). The chapter does an annual recognition luncheon for members who are over 90 years old (we have two members over 100). The chapter participated with a booth in the annual albuquerque veterans day celebration at the state fair grounds and the annual military/veterans day at the legislature. The chapter participated in wreaths across america. The chapter has 3 other activities open to members: luncheon club (monthly with speaker); ski club (4-5 ski trips per year); and tours & events club (3-5 tours/events per year).

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt6THE ALBUQUERQUE CHAPTER OF THE MILITARY OFFICERS ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA (ALBUMOAA, OR CHAPTER) IS A MEMBER OF THE NM MILITARY/VETERANS LEADERSHIP COUNCIL (MVLC) WHICH SOLELY CONCENTRATES ON STATE LEGISLATIVE ISSUES: CURRENT ISSUES INCLUDE MAKING THE RETIREE TAX EXEMPTION PERMANENT, INCREASING THE VETERANS PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION & INITIATIVES TO ADDRESS VETERANS HOMELESSNESS. AS PART OF THIS COUNCIL, WE MEET THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WITH STATE LEGISLATORS, TESTIFY IN FRONT OF BOTH THE INTERIM HOUSE/SENATE VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITTEES AND REGULAR COMMITTEES DURING THE SESSION. THE CHAPTER HAS AN EXCELLENT GIVING PROGRAM. FOR 2023: ROTC AWARDS (3 COLLEGE JUNIORS) 1,500.00; BLUE STAR MOTHERS - RIO GRANDE CHAPTER 1,000.00; BLUE STAR MOTHERS - VALENCIA CHAPTER 1,000.00; NM VETERANS INTEGRATION CENTER (VIC) 3,000.00; FISHER HOUSE 350.00; PAWS AND STRIPES 1,000.00; AND NM 100 CLUB (SUPPORT OF SURVIVORS OF KILLED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS) 500.00. THE CHAPTER PROVIDES JROTC MEDALS TO 18 LOCAL HIGH SCHOOLS AND ROTC MEDALS TO THREE UNM PROGRAMS; MEMBERS OF THE CHAPTER PERSONALLY DO THE PRESENTATION. THE CHAPTER HAS A QUARTERLY SOCIAL FOR MEMBERS WITH PRESENTERS FROM THE COMMUNITY. THE CHAPTER DOES AN ANNUAL REMEMBRANCE PROGRAM FOR MEMBERS WHO DECEASED IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS (IN CONJUNCTION WITH MEMORIAL DAY). THE CHAPTER DOES AN ANNUAL RECOGNITION LUNCHEON FOR MEMBERS WHO ARE OVER 90 YEARS OLD (WE HAVE TWO MEMBERS OVER 100). THE CHAPTER PARTICIPATED WITH A BOOTH IN THE ANNUAL ALBUQUERQUE VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION AT THE STATE FAIR GROUNDS AND THE ANNUAL MILITARY/VETERANS DAY AT THE LEGISLATURE. THE CHAPTER PARTICIPATED IN WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA. THE CHAPTER HAS 3 OTHER ACTIVITIES OPEN TO MEMBERS: LUNCHEON CLUB (MONTHLY WITH SPEAKER); SKI CLUB (4-5 SKI TRIPS PER YEAR); AND TOURS & EVENTS CLUB (3-5 TOURS/EVENTS PER YEAR).
