Our mission is to partner with low income and working people to build economic and racial equity. The information for the 990 is gathered and entered by accounting leadership, mainly the controller and cfo. They utilize the software relevant to the information being requested (i.e. Accounting software, payroll software) as well as verifying information against the approved schedules and audited financials. After the information is inputted, a draft report is generated and sent to the ceo and president for review and approval. Once approved, the information is presented to the bod for review and approval.

The conflict policy requires annual disclosure of any conflicts and tight financial controls. No one has complete control of a transaction or of the contracting process. Related parties must recuse themselves from deliberation on these issues.

Financial Statement Notes

Schedule D, Part X, Line 2 LIABILITY FOR UNCERTAIN TAX POSITIONS

The organization has been organized as a colorado nonprofit coporation and has been recognized by the irs as exempt from federal income taxes under irc section 501(a) as organizations described in irc section 501(c)(3), qualifies for the charitable contribution deduction, and has been determined not to be a private foundation. The organization is annually required to file a return of organization exempt from income tax (form 990) with the irs. In addition, the organization is subject to income tax on net income that is derived from business activities that are unrelated to their exempt purposes. The organization determined that it is not subject to unrelated business income tax and has not filed an exempt organization business income tax return (form 990-t) with the irs. Management believes that the organization has appropriate support for any tax positions taken affecting its annual filing requirements, and as such, does not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the financial statements. The organization would recognize future accrued interest and penalites related to unrecognized tax benefits and liabilities in income tax expense if such interest and penalites were incurred.

SINCE JULY 2022, CEDP HAS ALSO MANAGED THE STATE OF COLORADO'S EMERGENCY INTAKE SYSTEM FOR RENTERS FACING DISPLACEMENT. THIS INTAKE SYSTEM ANSWERS TENANT CALLS ABOUT THE RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, FEATURES INTAKE AGENTS AT COURTHOUSES ACROSS THE STATE, AND COORDINATES AMONG SERVICE PROVIDERS. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, CEDP MAKES REFERRALS TO ITS OWN EVICTION PREVENTION AND HOMELESSNESS DIVERSION PROGRAMS, AND COORDINATES SERVICE DELIVERY WITH OTHER SERVICE PROVIDERS ACROSS THE STATE FOR HOUSEHOLD STABILITY SERVICES AND OTHER NEEDED BENEFITS AND SERVICES.
