Significant program services not listed on prior year return Part III line 2

We shifted our programmatic focus as a result of tapering off of COVID-oriented activities. As such, we pivoted from programs that aimed to address unique challenges caused by COVID to a model that centered our core outcomes of increasing youth access to post-secondary opportunities. Furthermore, the cohorts of youth we worked with in this fiscal year began entering their junior and senior years of high school, thus our need to iterate and offer more relevant work/learning opportunities aligned with career and study pathways. This included securing new partnerships with local colleges to curate concurrent enrollment and research courses where students could earn paid stipends and college credits for their participation.

Through empathy interviews and ongoing work within the community, we learned that the specific needs of BIPOC youth were shifting as we emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic. Youth were facing increased mental health challenges, identity exploration, and the need for meaningful community connections. In response, we streamlined our programs to focus exclusively on storytelling, a medium that allows us to address these evolving needs directly.Our shift from streaming and gaming to storytelling was a strategic decision to serve our mission better. By focusing on storytelling, we can significantly impact three critical areas: career and education empowerment, cultural enrichment, and youth mental health. Participants engage in storytelling workshops led by experienced artists and media professionals, where they develop and refine personal narratives on a range of life topics. In a safe and affirming environment, participants hone their narrative literacy, presenting their stories to live audiences and producing content that prepares them for future educational and career opportunities. They also receive training in podcasting and audio production, turning their stories into polished, shareable media. By cultivating a sense of purpose and cultural pride, YEBO empowers BIPOC youth to navigate personal, academic, and professional challenges with confidence and resilience.

As such, we pivoted from programs that aimed to address unique challenges caused by COVID to a model that centered our core outcomes of increasing youth access to post-secondary opportunities. Furthermore, the cohorts of youth we worked with in this fiscal year began entering their junior and senior years of high school, thus our need to iterate and offer more relevant work/learning opportunities aligned with career and study pathways. This included securing new partnerships with local colleges to curate concurrent enrollment and research courses where students could earn paid stipends and college credits for their participation.
