“Outreach, education, and professional training in fiscal year 2024, spokane regional domestic violence coalition (srdvc) expanded its outreach and education efforts to reach thousands of residents across spokane. Srdvc facilitated monthly support groups-held four times per month across all twelve months-that served 379 participants, offering survivors vital resources, education, support, and connection. Youth violence prevention remained a key focus, with srdvc delivering educational classes to over 461 youth and conducting four school assembly presentations on healthy relationships that reached over 800 students. These youth-focused initiatives aimed to prevent violence before it starts by promoting respectful communication, consent, and safety. Srdvc also engaged in six tabling events throughout the year, connecting directly with over 1,800 community members and distributing resources to raise awareness about domestic and youth violence prevention. As part of its business outreach initiative, srdvc delivered toolkit education presentations to five local businesses, training 53 employees on recognizing and responding to domestic violence in the workplace. Court watch volunteer training was conducted for 15 new community members, equipping them to monitor domestic violence court proceedings and support system transparency and accountability. Finally, srdvc, in partnership with multi-care health systems, distributed and posted domestic violence resource flyers throughout spokane in every multi-care medical facility. Education and advocacy srdvc participated in and led a wide range of initiatives in 2024, including its youth violence prevention program, the handle with care project, the court watch expansion, and the domestic violence business toolkit training. Srdvc also developed the nation's first positive community norms (pcn) campaign focused on domestic violence, helping shape community-wide messaging that promotes safety, respect, and equity. A highlight of the year was the continuation of the end the violence conference, a significant training and professional development event for domestic violence professionals. The end the violence conference brought together diverse stakeholders to share best practices, advance trauma- informed care, and collaborate on innovative solutions to family violence. Securing funding and collaborative research in 2024, srdvc strengthened systems-level collaboration by working alongside governmental agencies, law enforcement, courts, and educators to advocate for safer communities and improve institutional responses to domestic violence. Through programs like handle with care and court watch, srdvc emphasized trauma-informed, coordinated community response models prioritizing survivor safety and offender accountability. Srdvc also conducted multiple education and training sessions with professionals across sectors-including schools, direct service agencies, and local businesses-to ensure frontline providers have the knowledge and tools to respond effectively to domestic violence, youth violence, and related community challenges. Overall impact in 2024, srdvc made measurable strides toward fostering a safer, more informed, and connected community through education, prevention programs, system-level advocacy, and community engagement.”
