As described in its By Laws the organization's purpose is to provide at least five formal ballroom dinner dances annually for the social enjoyment of its members. The organization has no physical assets or employees so it contracts with dining facilities to provide dinner and ballroom space and with bands to provide music. In the year ended June 30 2022 the organization included about 120 members who are primarily residents of the states of Connecticut and New York. Members are required to join and attend dances as couples but there are no membership requirements regarding geography race sex creed sexual orientation or marital status. The organization's officers include 7 couples who must be members of the organization but receive no compensation for their services. Officers and directors pay the same fees as all other members. Membership fees and assessments are in two parts: - An annual membershp fee to cover the costs of insurance flowers mailing and bands - Dance fees for each dance to cover the costs of food and service. Dance fees are negotiated with each facility by the organization and are the same for all members and guests. The organization does not have any other assessments on members or guests. The organization does not sell any equipment clothing or other items to members or non-members. Attendance at dances is limited to members who have paid the dance fee with two exceptions: - Member Guests: Members are entitled to invite no more than one guest couple to a dance and those who have not previously attended as a guest.
