Service Project Involvement in local service project to advocate the importance of NAYAUSA youth by connecting with the community by advocating through vendors tables showcasing the African culture and presentation of who we are. Cultural Events NAYAUSA activities celebrating its cultural heritage promoting pride and understanding among participants through Nigerian Independence Day gathering events. NAYAUSA had vendor tables at the event for several important reasons Networking Opportunities The vendor tables provided a platform to network with other organizations, potential partners, and community members, fostering collaboration and support. Resource Distribution NAYAUSA was able to distribute informative materials, resources, and promotional items, ensuring attendees had access to valuable information about available services. Youth Involvement Involving youth in managing the vendor tables offered them hands on experience in event planning communication and customer interaction enhancing their skills. Fundraising Selling products or services at the tables could also serve as a fundraising opportunity helping to support NAYAUSAs ongoing programs and initiatives. Feedback and Input Engaging with attendees allowed NAYAUSA to gather feedback and understand the needs and interests of the community guiding future programming. Mental Health and Well-being Support Groups Providing a safe space for youth to express themselves and discuss mental health issues to help reduce stigma and fosters resilience. Recreational Activities Organized sports programs that encourage physical activity which is crucial for mental well being such as going to the beach. The youth group went to the beach to promote team bonding and relaxation. It provided an opportunity for participants to unwind and connect with each other in a fun informal setting. The beach trip encouraged collaboration through group activities like beach games and volleyball fostering friendships and enhancing communication skills. Additionally it allowed youth to enjoy nature which can be beneficial for mental health and overall well being. Overall it was a chance to create lasting memories while strengthening the groups sense of community. Networking and Relationships Peer Connections Activities and gatherings that created opportunities for youth to meet peers forming friendships that can provide support and encouragement such as going to an event space.We held a gathering in a formal space for youth to create an environment that fosters respect and professionalism. This setting allowed participants to engage in meaningful discussions and activities that encouraged personal and leadership development. A formal space also helped set the tone for important topics such as career readiness and civic engagement, making the experience more impactful. Additionally it provided an opportunity for youth to practice etiquette and communication skills in a professional context preparing them for future endeavors. Overall the gathering aimed to inspire and empower youth while promoting a sense of belonging and ommunity.Networking Opportunities A renewal of an Online Presence that connects the youth to a larger social media presence and an easier connection. Having a strong social media presence is crucial for the NAYAUSA youth group for several reasons Increased Visibility A robust social media presence helps raise awareness about NAYAUSAs programs and events, attracting more participants and community support.Youth Engagement Social media is a platform where young people naturally connect. “NAMYAUSA shared a vision to initiate Mobile Health Screening activities for the NAMYAUSA Free Medical. Clinic, which has not had many activities due to the lengthy process of securing Federal Tort Insurance. NAMYAUSA members were excluded from the Mobile Health Screening event and came out in substantial numbers to participate. NAMYAUSA kicked off the inaugural Free Mobile Health Screening and Information event at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Lindenwold New Jersey, at 100pm after the Spanish Mass on November 3rd, 2024. The turnout was great, with many community members taking advantage of the services that were offered. The health screening that were provided were general health check, free Vision screening, and dental screening . these screening were provided by medical members of NAMYAUSA organization. Many more had their blood pressures checked by NAMYAUSA nurses and nurse practitioners. One established case of hypertension was recorded and addressed for further consultation. A health information session on the risks of high blood pressure was presented by one of Members health practitioner. Tips were shared on how to keep the blood pressure under control to avoid risk of heart disease. Information session focused on diabetes and the risk factors to watch out for, as well as the signs of diabetes to keep an eye on were also provided. In another health information session a Nurse Practitioner, did a presentation on anxiety and the signs of anxiety to pay attention to for overall wellbeing. Participants numbering about 25 took advantage of the services and were treated to healthy snacks and water after their screening sessions. NAMYAUSA members were impressed with the outcome, and look forward to more opportunities for health outreach in the greater Philadelphia area. On September 21, 2024, NAMYAUSA Free Medical Clinic in collaboration with Association of Nigerian Physicians in America PA/DE Valley Chapter, hosted an Eye Symposium at the Holiday Inn Lansdale Hatfield PA. Presented topics were Refractive Cataract Surgery and Red Eye Seen in Primary Care Practices. This was followed by a presentation on Dry Eye Disorder, finished the day with a presentation on Glaucoma The Art of Lowering Intraocular Pressure with Medication. The Symposium was attended by participants about 65 in number”
