Mission and Program Overview

Mission

To ensure that survivors of gender-based violence (gbv)-including women and girls impacted by human trafficking, domestic violence, and sexual assault-have access to high-quality healthcare. To fill this critical gap in the healthcare system, we are building a new medical field: gbv care. Our novel model provides free long-term medical and mental health services to survivors, and the insights from this work shape the training we provide to clinicians around the world.

The president will meet with the organization's outside accountant to review the form 990. After such review, the president will disseminate the form 990 via e-mail to the organization's board. Any questions by the board are sent to the president who will forward such questions to the outside accountant for review.

Each key person with board-delegated powers shall annually sign a statement that affirms that such person: 1.) has received a copy of the conflict of interest policy, 2.) has read and understands the policy, 3.) has agreed to comply with the policy, and 4.) understands that the corporation is charitable and in order to maintain its federal tax exemption it must engage primarily in activities that accomplish one or more of its tax-exempt purposes.

This process included coordinating with other human resource advisors to generate job profiling descriptions, research salary ranges for these positions using a nationally recognized platform to do so and request revisions from existing employees to accrualtley define these job descriptions. The committee used the revised descriptions to create job summaries and salary reccommendations based on both pay market and allocation between private sector/npo compensation.

To ensure that survivors of gender-based violence (gbv)-including women and girls impacted by human trafficking, domestic violence, and sexual assault-have access to high-quality healthcare. To fill this critical gap in the healthcare system, we are building a new medical field: gbv care. Provided customized trainings for medical schools, healthcare systems, legal programs, social service agencies and other disciplines. Offered consultation services to outside organizations working to better engage with and serve survivors of gender based violence. Published articles in a medical journal for healthcare providers regarding healthcare delivery when working with trauma survivors. Connected survivors with education and employment opportunities through our care navigation / survivor leader program, placing survivors at the center of our work to ensure that our services are survivor-informed and survivors can access opportunities for professional development.

The organization files an annual form 990 as a tax exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code. As such, no federal or new york state taxes are paid by the organization. The organization has been classified as an entity that is not a private foundation within the meaning of section 509(a) and qualifies for deductible contributions as provided in section 170 (b)(1)(a)(vi). The organization adopted the provisions of accounting principles generally accepted in the united states of america regarding accounting for uncertain tax positions. Management evaluated the organization's tax positions and concluded that the organization had taken no uncertain tax positions that would require adjustment to the financial statements in order to comply with the provisions of this guidance. With few exceptions, the organization is not subject to income tax examinations by the u.s. Federal, state or local tax authorities for fiscal years prior to 2021.
