“Kirsten Benton and Julie Benton are both board members and sisters-in-law. Jennie Lynch is the Past President on the Monarch board and works at Kaleidoscope Learning a 501c3 nonprofit that collaborated with Monarch Montessori School to launch the Family Resource Center. Julia Kallmes is the Executive Director of Monarch and a sister to Theresa Kallmes who runs the aftercare program at the school.”

“We review the Form 990 prior to submission. After submission all board members are emailed a copy of the completed and submitted Form 990.”

“Monarch board members follow the Conflict of Interest Policy when voting on and discussing matters in which they have a conflict.”

“Monarchs officers are all volunteers and unpaid. Monarchs Executive Director and Treasurer create a budget with staffing allocations. The Board of Directors votes on the staffing allocations on an annual basis after deliberation during official board meetings. Furthermore the Board of Directors reviews and votes on all contracts before they are presented to staff.”

Monarch shares space staff and utilities with Kaleidoscope which enables each nonprofit to pursue its distinct but symbiotic mission. Monarch invoices Kaleidoscope on a monthly basis for rent staff wages and associated taxes and benefits and utilities. Kaleidoscope is responsible for paying the invoice within 30 days as per our written agreement. We distinguished these expenses from those required to run our preschool and kindergarten programming.”
