“We have an all-volunteer, unpaid board. Generation S.O.S. does not charge schools or other organizations for our prevention services. The only potential for conflict of interest is if a director were an investor in, or otherwise affiliated with, an addiction treatment center and used his/her involvement with Generation S.O.S. to benefit that for-profit business. None of our directors is affiliated with any such business, nor does Generation S.O.S. align with, or endorse, any for-profit treatment businesses.”

“The CEO is an independent contractor working exclusively for the organization and performs several functions within that role. His compensation was set by the Founder/Board Chair, who provided the seed funding of the organization. The CEOs compensation is disclosed in all budget documents presented to the board, and is unchanged since the inception of the organization, nearly 7 years ago.”

“While the program services described in 4b and 4c were not listed in the prior years Form 990, they are not completely new initiatives. Rather, they have become much more important in the overall mix of our work. Generation S.O.S. has always worked with under-resourced communities, but as the opportunity and need to do so have increased dramatically, so have our efforts to expand our work in this critical area. Similarly, while we have always strived to make video recordings of our meetings and presentations, we recognized the need to build a professionally filmed, curated library of speaker videos that could, on their own, bring the Generation S.O.S. message to audiences everywhere. As such, we have formalized this effort.”
