“Our primary function of the pescadero ides is to preserve our portuguese heritage and to hold our annual religious celebration of our holy ghost festival. This festival plays an important role for our portuguese culture and community. The holy ghost festival originated and still continues in the portuguese islands of the azores and is widely celebrated throughout the united states (see attached why we celebrate the holy ghost festival. Holy ghost festivals have survived in the united states, especially new england, massachusetts, rhode island and california. The pescadero ides has been celebrating and carrying on this portuguese tradition for over 100 years, 119 to be exact. Some of our members have generations of family that have been involved since its beginning. As part of our annual holy ghost festivities, we provide a parade (sunday only) to the catholic church and back to our grounds, a free luncheon, on both days, to the public and entertain our community with an auction of donated goods. In addition to our annual holy ghost festival, the pescadero ides has an annual seafood coppino and allows for, and participates in, the pescadero arts and fun festival (paff), put on by paff. All proceeds from our annual festivities, mainly help the organization carry on the tradition of the holy ghost festival and upkeep of the facilities. The pescadero ides subsists solely on donations and volunteers to help the sustain the future of our organization.”

“Holy ghost festival yearly spring time festival held at the organization's grounds at the southern end of the town of pescadero, california. Almost all items for this festival are donated by donors. Fundraising events the pescadero ides as well as other local non-profits use the facilities to hold fundraising events throughout the year. These events include the crab cioppino dinner and pescadero art festival.”
