“Law enforcement officers, criminal justice personnel, victim advocates, and human service staff. Dove provided 30 hours of victim advocacy training to three new volunteer advocates who identify as survivors. Dove provided nine community education and youth advocacy & prevention (yap) workshops for the ddbddhh community on topics related to abuse. Dove conducted 19 trainings on culturally affirmative service provision to ddbddhh survivors of abuse to law enforcement, victim services, human services staff. Board/fundraising/grant accomplishments: two new members joined the dove board of directors dove hosted our 15th annual benefit celebration event at the molly brown summer house and raised 6,000 with the communitys support. Dove hosted an in-person fundraiser as well as online for colorado gives day and raised close to 5,000. Dove hosted fundraising events in jefferson, adams, el paso and denver counties at various locations including vision quest martial arts, california pizza kitchen, holiday hills village (st. Patricks day luncheon), chipotle, painting with a twist, and cold stone creamery. Dove maintained and increased grant awards from the same five victim assistance and law enforcement (vale) grants along with two state grants from victims of crime act (voca) and colorado department of human service (cdhs) domestic violence program (dvp). Other notable events/milestones: dove staff attended the national conference hosted by justice for deaf victims national coalition in silver spring, maryland. Dove facilitated a weekend retreat in partnership with vip holistic services on healing vicarious trauma for asl interpreters. Dove presented at the adara breakout conference in colorado springs to behavioral health providers about recognizing and addressing abuse experiences among clients. Dove presented at the colorado advocacy in action (caia) conference in vail to victim advocates on working with ddbddhh victims/survivors. Doves board member, cheryl davis, was presented with the 2016 lifetime achievement in the movement to end domestic violence award at the caia conference. Dove collaborated with sego lily center for abused deaf (slcad) to host our 2nd annual survivors retreat at aspen camp for 19 ddbddhh survivors of abuse and violence. Dove collaborated with denver indian family resource center, survivors organizing for liberation, domestic violence initiative, muslim family services and wings foundation to host an all-day training event called access summit for service providers on dismantling barriers for victims/survivors from marginalized communities.”
