“Exhibit 1: school and curriculum based grants the grant review committee evaluates all grant proposals and recommendations are made to the rocv executive committee. Grants are approved by the executive committee and announced at the monthly board of directors meeting. Grants will be evaluated based on merit and the number of students benefited by each grant. Priority will be assigned to number of students benefited, long-term benefits to crest view elementary (as opposed to primarily consumable programs), and academic or cultural value. -grade level grants. Money to supplement the classroom curriculum. Funds are based on grade levels. (i.e. Kindergarten,1st grade, 2nd grade,etc) -special needs grants family resources. Provides grants and scholarships for low-income children who would otherwise be unable to participate in field trips, purchase school supplies or purchase books at the book fairs. Currently administrated by the social worker that is staffed through bvsd. Accounted for by the special needs grants account. -program grants (specialists grants). Provides funding for specific programs at crest view elementary, such as music, pe, art, special ed, esl, literacy etc. -fte teacher and fte specialists grants. Grants awarded to faculty at crest view elementary school at the beginning of the school year to purchase supplies and other necessary items to start up the classrooms in the fall. Amounts are awarded based upon fte (full time equivalent) percentages for the faculty, which are provided by the principal. Committee activities and grants community services committee. Funding is provided for the following activities when money is available. Grants will be pursued to fund some of these. -giving snowman. A community service that provides "wish list" gifts to crest view families in need at christmas. Various committee grants (formerly sac grants) the following programs are currently sponsored: -tag and enrichment. Programs directed toward talented and gifted children for in-school enrichment activities. The school accountability committee (sac) provides direction for these programs. -technology maintenance. Technology improvements or programs recommended by sac, such as upgrades for classroom computers, maintenance of the crest view website, or other technology improvements. -science. Science programs recommended by (sac), such as the science fair or special science programs. -library. Librarian chooses books to supplement the current school library and to replace worn or damaged books. -grounds committee. The grounds committee organizes seasonal maintenance of the crest view gardens, researches, and identifies playground improvements, and other grounds-related improvements. -hospitality committee. Volunteers provide snacks and refreshments for staff functions, open enrollment days, and for parents who are new to the school. -student council. Program is staffed by a representative of each grade. Crest view staff members help the students with governing responsibitlities. -conflict resolution committee -conflict resolution. A program funded by rocv and staffed with adult volunteers and crest view staff to help children resolve conflicts in a safe, non-violent way. -peer mediation. A program staffed by adult volunteers, students, and crest view staff to help children mediate conflicts amongst themselves.”
