We promote the musical arts in the community by supporting a chamber orchestra, producing live concerts by recognized musicians and promoting the musical education of children in underserved schools and communities.

| IRS990/Desc | 0 | Music Encounters was formed in 2002 to offer violin and cello instruction to economically disadvantaged children in schools and community sites in the Denver metro area. In fiscal year 2025, we continued our traditional violin education programming and additionally presented ukulele instruction alongside other culturally responsive lessons to approximately 100 children in nearly 200 hours of hands-on education, with a tuition-free or tuition-optional model at all sites. Also in 2025, we expanded Music Encounters to include no-cost music therapy-based programs to adults and children at community sites that work with transient populations around Denver, reaching more than 50 participants during 50+ hours of music therapy-based sessions. While still in its early stages, we anticipate our music therapy-based programs growing to reach 150+ participants in the 2026 fiscal year. |

The Concert Series includes Stratus Chamber Orchestra, which engaged more than 40 community musicians who share a vision of performing the finest musical experiences in innovative settings. Stratus presented three live concerts on its own for a total audience of approximately 450 people during the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. In addition, Stratus collaborated with Neyla Pekarek, formerly of the Lumineers, to present two performances of A Western Woman in June 2025. More than 500 people enjoyed these performances, one in Greeley, CO and one in Denver, CO. Augustana Arts also presents concerts by local and national musicians at a variety of venues throughout the Denver metro area. There were four such concerts in 2025 drawing a total audience of 417 people. Additionally, three outreach performances brought music to 215 adults and children. Most performances use a Pay What You Can ticketing model that allows those wishing to attend to pay whatever they can afford, removing money as a barrier to music participation. |
