Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11B

The Form 990 was prepared by an independent CPA firm and was reviewed by the organization's Accountant and President in detail. The return was then provided to the board for their review prior to being filed with the IRS.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12C

Directors and officers are required to complete a conflict of interest statement annually. The board evaluates these statements and monitors for any potential conflicts of interest. Should any potential conflicts of interest be disclosed, the board member or officer would be asked to refrain from participation in any deliberation or decision with regard to matters affected by the relationship.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15A

Independent members of the board of directors vote to approve compensation to provide to the President. The board Treasurer compiles comparability data for the board's review. The process and all decisions made are documented in the board minutes. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15b: The organization does not have any other officers or key employees and therefore line 15b was answered no in accordance with the instructions.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, line 19

The governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements are available upon request.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0Joint Development Associates International, Inc. is dedicated to assist in the transformational development of local communities by helping initiate and implement projects in areas of agriculture development, clean water, poverty alleviation, infrastructure development, community health education, and emergency aid and relief.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1Continuation - JDA's hygiene and nutrition program served 3,450 women and 864 men. Topics of training include proper hand washing, food groups, the use of clean water, and water borne diseases, among others. In schools, 309 students from Amir Shir Ahmad Khan Shahid School participated in hygiene and sanitation training through a puppet show presented by JDA's WASH team. JDA also prepared a small lesson for girls about the monthly cycle including poor hygiene practices and distributed 150 kits that included reusable, and washable pads. The RADP-N program concluded and all agriculture activities were finalized. During the last months of activities, JDA led Land-laser leveling demonstrations for 1,050 farmers; 68 farmers attended field days to learn about conservation agriculture; 6,036 farmers trained on weed control; and 2,944 farmers attended demonstrations in seed selection. In Iraq, the Returnees, IDP's, and Vulnerable Iraqis Attain Livelihoods (RIVAL) program is in full swing. During the first year of the program, 2,296 beneficiaries were served through cash for work, grants and training opportunities. Cash for work activities provided an income for 790 beneficiaries who helped with city cleaning and the renovation of public facilities. In agriculture cash for work, 281 beneficiaries cleaned and prepared plots of land for future agriculture crops. Greenhouse technical training and tools were provided for 340 farmers. 250 start-up grants were made available to 250 households. JDA also facilitated the purchase of sheep and lamb through livestock grants for 260 women. Additionally, 150 farmers received training on fodder management.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt2The Form 990 was prepared by an independent CPA firm and was reviewed by the organization's Accountant and President in detail. The return was then provided to the board for their review prior to being filed with the IRS.
