Led by the board chairperson, the board of directors evaluates the executive director's performance and compensation on an annual basis. The colorado nonprofit association's bi-annual salary & benefits survey aligned with the executive director's experience, education, budget size, etc. Is utilized as the benchmark for determining the salary and benefits as well as relative increases. The executive director writes a memo to the board chairperson reflecting on their performance over the past year, details goals for the upcoming year, and provides the latest colorado nonprofit association report as information for reference. The executive director and board chairperson meet to discuss the memo, share additional feedback, and adjust the memo as needed. The board chairperson writes a memo to the full board of directors to share the results of the annual performance review, goals for the upcoming year, and recommends any changes to compensation and benefits. The board chairperson discusses any compensation and benefits changes with the senior accountant and finance committee before it is brought to the full board of directors for review and vote. The executive director determines compensation for the organization's employees.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The organization is exempt from income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and classified as other than a private foundation. The organization is, however, subject to income tax on any unrelated business income. There was no unrelated taxable income for the years ended june 30, 2025 and 2024. The organization has adopted the provisions of income taxes. In determining the recognition of uncertain tax positions, the organization applies a more-likely-than-not recognition threshold and determines the measurement of uncertain tax positions considering the amounts and probabilities of the outcome that could be realized upon ultimate settlement with taxing authorities. The organization analyzed its tax positions taken on their federal tax returns for the open tax years 2021 through 2023. Based on their analysis, the organization determined that there were no uncertain tax positions and that the organization should prevail upon examination by taxing authorities.

THE ORGANIZATION HAS ADOPTED THE PROVISIONS OF INCOME TAXES. IN DETERMINING THE RECOGNITION OF UNCERTAIN TAX POSITIONS, THE ORGANIZATION APPLIES A MORE-LIKELY-THAN-NOT RECOGNITION THRESHOLD AND DETERMINES THE MEASUREMENT OF UNCERTAIN TAX POSITIONS CONSIDERING THE AMOUNTS AND PROBABILITIES OF THE OUTCOME THAT COULD BE REALIZED UPON ULTIMATE SETTLEMENT WITH TAXING AUTHORITIES. THE ORGANIZATION ANALYZED ITS TAX POSITIONS TAKEN ON THEIR FEDERAL TAX RETURNS FOR THE OPEN TAX YEARS 2021 THROUGH 2023.
