Any employee who believes that his or his personal actions or interest, or the actions of others, may violate this policy must disclose the matter to the scout executive or council president. Each employee is asked to sign and return to the council designee an employee statement acknowledging the conflict of interest policy. Any employee whose actions or interest violate this policy may be subject to immediate termination, if it is determined to be in the best interest of the council.”

“In february of 2020, the national council of boy scouts of america filed for bankruptcy in response to abuse lawsuits filed in federal and state courts. On may 18, 2020 the bankruptcy court set a deadline of november 16, 2020 for victims to file claims. As part of the development of the plan of reorganization in the bankruptcy case, the council agreed to contribute 3,342,700 toward the trust fund for the victims, in return for which the adventure west council would receive the protection of a channeling injunction to shield the council and, in large part, its chartered organizations from future litigation of the suits filed prior to the filing of the bankruptcy case. On march 14, 2022, judge laurie silverstein began a confirmation hearing for four weeks to review the national councils motion to confirm its proposed plan of reorganization. The judge took the matter under advisement on september 8, 2022, approved the national boy scouts of america's confirmation plan. The case is subject to further approval by a district court judge before the trust fund can be established and the plan of reorganization consummated.”
