Part of this education process has been the highlighting how the jewelry industry can benefit by taking a stand in solidarity with the 20 million artisianal and small-scale gold miners who have no alternatives to the use of mercury in order to make their living as gold miners.”

“In january of 2020 mfm traveled to ghana on the invitation of gnassm, the ghana national association of small-scale miners, to introduce and demonstrate the efficiencies of the goldrop gold ore concentrator and processor. In their report, gnassm described goldrop as, a unique opportunity to finally end the use of mercury in gold mining operations in ghana.”

“In 2020 mfm established a gold ore analysis and an innovative processor assessment service, and developed a colaborative relationship with the alliance for responsible mining and coodmilla ltda, a gold ore processing cooperative in la llanada, colombia. Mfm imported gold ores from coodmilla ltda, and tested the effectiveness of two innovative processors. The results of these tests have been documented and can be made available to future artisanal and small-scale mining communities that want to use these cleaner, more efficient separator technologies.”
