Annually each director, each corporate officer, top management official, top financial official, and each key employee of Safe Black Space sign a statement affirming they they have received the conflict of interest policy, have read and understood the policy, and has agreed to comply with this policy. In addition financial interests and family relationships that could rise to conflicts are disclosed. The Board of Directors evaluates the annual COI disclosures and determines whether a conflict exists and the appropriate action.

The Board of Directors' process to determine executive compensation includes the following (1) Researching comparable salaries of nonprofit executive directors and chief executive officers in the Sacramento area, (2) reviewing job descriptions with associated executive compensation matching the duties of the executive director of Safe Black Space, and (3) discussing an appropriate initial salary rate and then subsequent rate increases with the board, considering budgeted funds available and merit. Any executive compensation increase is reviewed annually by the board of directors.
