To provide students with real-world work experience as part of their curriculum.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Cristo rey birmingham work study "work study" was established in 2019 as a 501(c) (3) secular not-for-profit organized for the benefit of holy family cristo rey catholic high school and provides as part of the school curriculum real-world work experience to the students of the school. The school allows students with limited resources who cannot afford a college preparatory education to access such experience through its unique work-study program. Students help to offset the cost of their tuition by working five days a month in an entry-level job with one of the work study's corporate partners. Work study is organized for the benefit of the school to hold contracts, collect revenue, and educate students on work skills. Tax positions are initially recognized in the financial statements when it is more likely than not the position will be sustained upon examination by the tax authorities. The organization had no uncertain tax positions that qualify for either recognition or disclosure in the financial statements as of june 30, 2020 and 2019 based on an assessment of many factors including experience and interpretations of tax laws.
