700,000 dead and counting. $1 trillion in costs and rising. Millions of addicts created with their number growing every day. Those are the hard numbers associated with our nation's opioid epidemic one that began as a direct result of the deceptive marketing, over-prescribing and irresponsible distribution of highly addictive painkillers.And although this epidemic has unfolded over nearly two and a half decades, when you look closely at how the responsible individuals and corporations are responding to this national emergency, you might be led to believe that the problem is not of their doing. In their eyes, there is no one to blame save the addicted.As a result, unprecedented numbers of Americans in every state, once addicted, are left to fend for themselves and all too often, left to die broken and alone.To us, that is not acceptable.We will accomplish this by placing The Opioid Spoon sculpture, created by artist/activist Domenic Esposito,founder of The Opioid Spoon Project
