Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Mission the kavod fund's mission is "to help people to be, and remain, self- sufficient and self-respecting persons by aid of non-interest-bearing loans, and other related services as the individual may require. Such loans, and services shall be rendered with dignity (kavod) and respect to those being helped."1 overview the kavod fund's strategy to achieve its mission has a two-pronged approach: 1.direct loans. First, the kavod fund will make interest-free loans to individuals, institutions and small businesses who are worthy, but cannot otherwise access loans on reasonable terms or any loans altogether. The goal is to help worthy persons to help themselves in a dignified manner. By providing distressed individuals with an interest-free loan, the kavod fund will provide not only capital, but also a sense of hope and worth, as borrowers will know someone believes in them and their future success. Sometimes that push is what an individual needs to get out of a negative cycle. In addition

FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

In addition, when borrowers repay their loans, the kavod fund will re-loan the funds. Therefore, relative to giving funds to individuals or organizations, lending the funds interest-free can provide financial support while having greater impact as repaid funds get recycled to help others over and over. 2.promote community lending. The second part of the kavod fund's strategy is to create a platform that connects individuals who have savings to those who don't have access to loans, or reasonable low-cost loans, on a global basis. Specifically, the kavod fund plans to develop an online technology platform through which borrowers will be able to post their requests for interest-free loans and connect with individuals who are willing and able to lend interest-free. By creating the marketplace, the kavod fund will enable thousands of people to be able to lend interest-free in a simple, straightforward way. This opportunity of helping others through interest-free lending is typically not accessible to individuals that may be willing to do so, but lack the infrastructure or the connection to those in need. Initially, the kavod fund will focus on lending within the jewish community. The kavod fund anticipates that the lending platform will gain support and begin making loans quickly within the jewish community. Lending interest-free to those in need is a "mitzvah" (an obligation, and a good deed) according to jewish law, and interest-free lending is already common informally in the jewish community. The goal of this strategy is to enable the kavod fund to utilize its significant ties to the jewish community in order to establish a viable network of lenders and borrowers. The kavod fund hopes that this will help establish a foundation of capital that will allow it to expand its application pool to include other niches and eventually, all potential borrowers. Loan programs the kavod fund expects to conduct six different lending programs, and will expand, modify or eliminate programs based on need and performance. The programs are: 1.education loan program - this program is dedicated to funding the educational pursuits of eligible borrowers. The aim of this program is to enable disadvantaged students to enroll in an accredited college, licensed vocational school or professional program. 2.debt financing loan program - loans provided in connection with this program allow eligible borrowers to consolidate existing debt, including educational loans and other high-interest loans. 3.emergency loan program - this program provides loans in order to aid eligible borrowers in emergency situations. The objective of this program is to support eligible borrowers in need of food, clothing or shelter. 4.business loan program - this program aims to fund the business initiatives and ventures of eligible borrowers. The goal is to allow disadvantaged small business owners to be able to expand their commercial initiatives. 5.non-profit/jewish institution loan program - this program serv

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0MISSION THE KAVOD FUND'S MISSION IS "TO HELP PEOPLE TO BE, AND REMAIN, SELF- SUFFICIENT AND SELF-RESPECTING PERSONS BY AID OF NON-INTEREST-BEARING LOANS, AND OTHER RELATED SERVICES AS THE INDIVIDUAL MAY REQUIRE.
