“The aaih is an international 501(c)4 not-for-profit multi-stakeholder advocacy organization, launched in 2019 to promote scientific, legislative, and regulatory initiatives necessary for the development, accessibility, and implementation of artificial intelligence (ai) powered healthcare solutions. Our mission is to enable the advancement and responsible use of ai in healthcare to improve patients lives by focusing on resolution of the sectors most pressing and significant issues for patients and developers. It advances these goals by working collectively to identify and address industry wide concerns, one of which is the intersection of ai and intellectual property.”

“Federal engagement and regulatory affairs (fera): the fera group is focused on engagement with regional and international governing and regulatory bodies, such as cms, ema, health canada, fda etc. In addition, the fera group is responsible for developing a cohesive strategy for aaih legislative and policy advocacy. 2019 accomplishments: a. Formation and execution of advocacy day with us congress (june 25) b. Meetings with fda ai leaders (june 26) c. Coordinated & hosted educational workshop on ai enabled investigational new drug (ind) (november 19) d. Submitted comments to fda and us congress on: i. Proposed regulatory framework for modifications to artificial intelligence/machine learning (ai/ml) based software as a medical device (samd) ii. Clinical decision support software iii. Qualification process for drug development tools iv. Cures 2.0 call to action”
