Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Sheriff's Office Law Enforcement, Training, and Safety Equipment: Provided each patrol deputy with a Guardian Angel Elite Series Safety Light and Epaulet Mount; purchased 4 new laptops and upgraded Child ID software for the sheriff's free Child ID program; purchased a Stalker MC360 Message Trailer for the sheriff to display safety messages to motorists; paid monthly fee for climate controlled storage unit to store community outreach supplies and equipment; purchased various item of clothing, swag, and equipment for sheriff's community outreach activities. The Louisa County Sheriff's Office is the primary law enforcement authority for the county. The sheriff's office personnel number 90 to 95 active deputies and office personnel. Louisa county covers 514 square miles with a population of 42,109 (2024) residents that hosts thousands of visitors to Lake Anna during the summer.$0$31,630
Community Engagement Equipment & Expenses: The sheriff's community engagement activities help reduce tensions, misunderstandings, and conflicts between residents and deputies, and encourage residents to see the deputies as helpful and protective neighbors by conducting activities that create social rather than law enforcement encounters. The foundation provided funding for logoed tee shirts, forensic training gear, and drinks and snacks for the participants for the Teen Law Enforcement Adventure Program. Funding for logoed polo shirts, tumblers, training gear, and graduation meals for adult residents attending the sheriff's Citizens Law Enforcement Academy. That program exposes attendees to the functions of the criminal courts, prosecutors, magistrates; to the sheriff's organization, equipment, and capabilities; and to the training deputies receive, as well as, the incidents and stresses they face on patrol. The citizens academy is given two times a year and has a class of 10 students attending 3 and a half hours per week for 12 weeks plus two half day Saturdays for firearms training and driving a patrol car through a training course. The foundation provided funds for the Shop With A Cop Christmas holiday event so that 15 financially disadvantaged middle school students, accompanied by volunteer deputies, could purchase gifts for their immediate family members while the deputies surreptitiously selected a gift for the student. Volunteers helped the students and deputies wrap the gifts to be taken home. All were treated to a banquet meal after the shopping and wrapping was done. The sheriff's voluntary chaplains corps is almost entirely funded by the foundation. The chaplains respond to service calls with patrol officers to offer short term assistance to the general public experiencing a crisis such as a serious traffic or other accident, a death in the family, family stress, or domestic violence. This may include helping people contact family, friends, or clergy, dealing with emotional pain due to trauma, lending assistance in contacting agencies which can help in their particular situation or just listening and being there for them during a time of crisis. The chaplains also provide the sheriff's staff guidance through counseling, encouragement, and personal involvement in their daily activities and professional career as a member of the law enforcement community. The foundation funded the chaplains' uniforms, equipment, CPR training, as well as food and drinks during training sessions. The Sheriff's Office personnel number 95 to 100 active deputies and office personnel. Louisa County covers 514 square miles with a population of 42,109 (2024) residents that hosts thousands of visitors to Lake Anna during the summer.$0$11,116
The Special Needs and Autism Awareness Festival: The sheriff's Special Needs and Autism Awareness Festival is an annual Community Outreach event funded by the foundation and staffed with volunteers. It is open to the public without charge. The Festival helps raise community awareness of the challenges facing families with special needs and brings together those regional organizations that provide resources to help families and individuals with special needs.$0$5,190
