“In 2017, maplewood stables celebrated its 40th anniversary, and in reflecting on our achievements in the competition, training and breeding arenas, ive realized that none of this would be possible without the knowledge ive gleaned over the decades. As a lifelong student of the horse, my passion is to inspire others to follow that same path. Therefore, in 2018 we launched goodtoknow horses, a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, in order to expand our educational opportunities to those who might not otherwise be able to afford to continue their educations. Maplewood is a 165-acre property in reno, nevada, that serves an educational hub to not only educate riders and trainers, but also all horse peopleyoung and oldwho wish to become better horsemen, ultimately for the benefit of the horse. In addition to our successful hunter/jumper show barn, maplewood includes a sport horse breeding operation, a young horse training center, a thriving lesson program, riding camps for children and adults and our unique horse industry training program. The hitp grew out of maplewoods long-standing working student program. It reflects our dedication to educating the next generation of horsemen and producing well-rounded, knowledgeable and ethical professionals for our sport. The hitp, a two-year immersive horsemanship program, received a permanent license from nevadas commission on postsecondary education in 2017. Maplewood is one of the few sport horse breeders in the country to have been in business for four decades, and were proud to have produced winners nationally and internationally. Our foundation stallions, osilvis and cartouche z, are in their 20s and still going strong, and our current string of winning grand prix show jumpers are homebred, raised and trained.”
