“Recovery advocacy project (rap) is committed to giving people in recovery from all pathways, family members, and supporters of recovery the grassroots organizing tools to think and act locally. Rap is working to build a visible and effective constituency in demand of community and public policy based solutions in response to america's long standing addiction crisis.”
“Cultivating advocate leadership a cornerstone of rap's mission is fostering strong leadership within the recovery community. In 2024, this was achieved through two primary avenues: robust state organizing teams and the introduction of the personalized recovery organizer coaching (roc) program. - state organizing teams: rap sustained dedicated organizing leadership teams in 14 states, including one newly established team this year. These core groups were instrumental in identifying and advancing grassroots community initiatives and legislative priorities specific to their states. The teams convened for a total of 106 strategic meetings throughout the year, maintaining solid engagement with an average attendance of seven leaders per meeting. Interestingly, a trend emerged with more teams choosing to meet monthly rather than biweekly, suggesting a potential shift towards more in-depth, consolidated planning sessions. The focused efforts of these state teams successfully inspired 691 new individuals to become active participants in rap's digital advocacy campaigns within those regions. - recovery organizer coaching (roc) program: recognizing the value of individualized support, rap launched the innovative roc program. This initiative trained 18 coaches, equipping them with essential skills like active listening and motivational interviewing techniques. These coaches provided tailored guidance to fellow advocates requesting support. Common areas for coaching included strategies to overcome specific organizing barriers, navigating advocates towards relevant rap toolkits or online resources, addressing challenges like volunteer fatigue or advocacy burnout, and effectively introducing new advocates to rap's educational resources, such as the recovery organizing classroom. This vital new program facilitated 18 completed coaching sessions during its inaugural year.”
“Strategic communications outreach effective communication remained central to rap's success, serving to raise public awareness, drive targeted action, and cultivate a connected, informed network of recovery allies. - broad & targeted reach: utilizing its comprehensive digital communications platform, action network, rap disseminated crucial information and calls to action focused on addiction and mental health recovery policies. Through integrated web tools and strategic social media engagement, the organization successfully connected with an impressive national audience of 203,169 individuals. Complementing this broad outreach, tens of thousands more were engaged through state-specific campaigns and alerts, highlighting rap's ability to tailor messaging for maximum relevance and impact.”
“Engaging communities and influencing policy rap employed a dynamic blend of digital outreach and direct community engagement to shape policy and build widespread support for recovery. - digital advocacy & legislative impact: by strategically leveraging online tools-including targeted letters to elected officials, petitions, and event registrations-rap effectively mobilized advocates across its 14 priority states. This digital activism proved highly impactful, contributing significantly to the successful passage of 33 pieces of recovery-supportive legislation. Equally important, these efforts helped defeat 6 proposed bills identified as potentially harmful to the recovery community's interests. Across the states with active organizing leadership teams, advocates diligently monitored 113 relevant legislative bills. - community presence & direct action: beyond the digital realm, rap team members were deeply integrated into their local communities. They actively participated in 29 coalition and community partnership meetings centered on key issues. Their voices were heard in 32 public hearings-ranging from crucial discussions on opioid settlement fund allocation to city council meetings. Rap also facilitated impactful learning opportunities, conducting 9 trainings and workshops that engaged 350 attendees, and hosting 3 listening sessions that gathered valuable perspectives from 53 participants. Demonstrating collective power, rap organized or participated in 14 in-person direct actions, mobilizing a strong showing of 678 attendees.”

THIS VITAL NEW PROGRAM FACILITATED 18 COMPLETED COACHING SESSIONS DURING ITS INAUGURAL YEAR. |

| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 0 | RECOVERY ADVOCACY PROJECT (RAP) IS COMMITTED TO GIVING PEOPLE IN RECOVERY FROM ALL PATHWAYS, FAMILY MEMBERS, AND SUPPORTERS OF RECOVERY THE GRASSROOTS ORGANIZING TOOLS TO THINK AND ACT LOCALLY. RAP IS WORKING TO BUILD A VISIBLE AND EFFECTIVE CONSTITUENCY IN DEMAND OF COMMUNITY AND PUBLIC POLICY BASED SOLUTIONS IN RESPONSE TO AMERICA'S LONG STANDING ADDICTION CRISIS. |
| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 1 | CULTIVATING ADVOCATE LEADERSHIP A CORNERSTONE OF RAP'S MISSION IS FOSTERING STRONG LEADERSHIP WITHIN THE RECOVERY COMMUNITY. THIS VITAL NEW PROGRAM FACILITATED 18 COMPLETED COACHING SESSIONS DURING ITS INAUGURAL YEAR. |
| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 2 | STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS OUTREACH EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION REMAINED CENTRAL TO RAP'S SUCCESS, SERVING TO RAISE PUBLIC AWARENESS, DRIVE TARGETED ACTION, AND CULTIVATE A CONNECTED, INFORMED NETWORK OF RECOVERY ALLIES. COMPLEMENTING THIS BROAD OUTREACH, TENS OF THOUSANDS MORE WERE ENGAGED THROUGH STATE-SPECIFIC CAMPAIGNS AND ALERTS, HIGHLIGHTING RAP'S ABILITY TO TAILOR MESSAGING FOR MAXIMUM RELEVANCE AND IMPACT. |
| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 3 | ENGAGING COMMUNITIES AND INFLUENCING POLICY RAP EMPLOYED A DYNAMIC BLEND OF DIGITAL OUTREACH AND DIRECT COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT TO SHAPE POLICY AND BUILD WIDESPREAD SUPPORT FOR RECOVERY.
