Policy and Advocacy: In 2024, NCSA strengthened its policy infrastructure and expanded its National Grassroots Network (NGN) to 25 state chapters, doubling overall membership. NCSA hired its first Policy Director in February and promoted her to Executive Director in July, increasing leadership capacity and strategic focus. The NGN held monthly meetings for state chairs to address national issues, while state chapters convened virtually to discuss state-specific priorities. NCSA invested in advocacy affairs software, enabling families to easily contact their federal and state officials. Hundreds of families submitted public comments to the Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee on caregiver support and to the Federal Register opposing the elimination of 14(c) certificates. NCSA also partnered with the Autism Science Foundation to fund a nationwide professional poll to guide its policy strategy for amending the Autism CARES Act, which was reauthorized in December 2024. The organization began planning for its inaugural D.C. Fly-In, scheduled for spring 2025, to advance federal policy priorities.-$38,934
Solutions & Resources: In 2024, NCSA expanded access to practical solutions for individuals with severe autism and their families through strategic partnerships and education. NCSA partnered with the Linked Autism Safety Project to connect state grassroots chairs with subject matter experts to build collaborative partnerships with first responders and autism community members. NCSA also partnered with the Rideshare Safety Partition to provide vehicle partitions to three families, enabling safe transportation to treatment appointments during episodes of aggression. NCSA hosted 14 webinars on topics including crisis stabilization, biopsychosocial approaches to autism care, social media discourse, psychiatric treatments for autism, and specialized educational settings for students with profound autism.-$11,098
