“Volunteers are essential to the on-going mission of casa of hill county texas(casahc). Casahc operates with 5 staff, 42 casa advocate volunteers and 10 volunteer board members. Casahc programs have a goal of having 100% of the children in care served by 100% volunteers. Advocate volunteers work with the children assigned to their case along with providing support at information sessions, speaking engagements, community events, and major fundraisers. Volunteer board members meet monthly to provide oversight and guidance to the organization in addition to providing support alongside the child advocates.”
“Psa 1 continued- casa volunteers are recruited using information sessions, newspaper ads, billboards, speaking engagements, and personal recruiting by existing volunteers. They come from all walks of life and must be over the age of 21, able to pass a texas dfps background check, national criminal background check, and be fingerprinted for the fbi database rap back program. Casa volunteers work with parents and children to first attempt to reunify children with their parents. This may require casa volunteers to solicit donations on behalf of the families, find support resources, and encourage the parents to continue to work to provide safe and stable housing for their children. When children cannot be reunited with their parents, casa volunteers seek out other adults that can be a positive role model and provide them a permanent and safe home. Because of the nature of the child protective system, casa volunteers are often the only consistent adult in the life of these children.”
