Mission

to nourish a sustainable regional food system by improving the community's access to local, healthy food; providing management for a farmers' market within the community; educating the community about proper nutrition and to promoting healthy eating habits; enhancing the connection between New Haven residents and Connecticut farmers; and by creating a sustainable model of urban community, regional agriculture, environmental stewardship, and well-being through food.

To engage the community in growing an equitable, local food system that supports economic development, community development and sustainable agricultures.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

City seed, inc. Is exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c )(3) of the internal revenue code. However, income from certain activities not directly related to the organization's tax-exempt purpose is subject to taxation as unrelated business income. The organization has not engaged in any such unrelated business activities and believes that it has appropriate support for any tax positions taken, and as such, does not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the financial statements. The organization's federal return of organization exempt from income tax (forms 990) are no longer subject to examination by the irs, for the years before january 31, 2019.

OVER 6 YEARS, 500+ ENTREPRENEURS IN OUR VENTURE NETWORK HAVE ATTENDED INCUBATES' FREE BUSINESS AND MARKETING WORKSHOPS, ACCESSED INGREDIENTS FOR THEIR BUSINESS FROM OUR FARMER NETWORK, TESTED THEIR MENUS AT OUR FARMERS MARKETS, DEVELOPED RECIPES IN OUR COMMERCIAL KITCHEN SPACES, OR RECEIVED 1:1 BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT COACHING. THIS NETWORK HAS GROWN 71% SINCE THE START OF 2021.
