Mission

Oklahoma Military Heritage Foundation, DBA Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame Foundation, honors the men and women of Oklahoma, living and deceased, who serve or have served in the Uniformed Services of the United States with records of extraordinary service and/or sacrifice to our nation; and to educate the public, especially the state's youth, about service to our nation.

The OKMHF Board is comprised of dedicated volunteers who believe in honoring the extraordinary and/or heroic actions of our service men and women who have an Oklahoma connection. From 1999-2024, 247 individual Oklahoma heroes, and 9 units and organizations, have been inducted into our Hall of Fame. There are 163 individual officers, 70 enlisted men, and 2 civilians. Honorees from the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force are represented. They also include 2 NASA pilots, a Frontiersman, and 2 Army Nurse Corps veterans. 35 are recipients of the Medal of Honor; 28 men received 30 Distinguished Service Crosses; and 20 are recipients of the Major General Douglas O. Dollar Distinguished Public Service Award. Sometimes a unit is given recognition, such as the 10th U.S. Cavalry Regiment 'Buffalo Soldiers' (2002); the Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore (2005); ROTC's centennial (2016); the Oklahoma National Guard (2017); the Sailors of Battleship USS Oklahoma that perished at Pearl Harbor (2018); and the Oklahoma WWII Rangers (2024). Several Native American Tribes have been recognized in the form of individual servicemen, as well as groups, including the Comanche Code Talkers (2011); the Choctaw Code Talkers (2012); and the Pawnee Code Talkers (2015) for their service during WWI and WWII.$0$0
The Oklahoma Military Heritage Foundation has formed an important partnership with the Oklahoma History Center. Without this partnership we would not have a base of operation and a permanent site within the Oklahoma Military History Display Area. The Oklahoma History Center provides space for meetings of the OMHF Board and logistical/event planning assistance. The Oklahoma History Center established a permanent home located in the military display area to present all the inductees of the OKMHF. This includes an interactive electronic display 'kiosk' featuring the stories of each member of the Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame. Recognition received at the event from government officials/dignitaries, and from the press are permanently recorded and displayed for public viewing. The Foundation's website at okmhf.org is continually updated and includes access to the interactive and searchable database of all OKMHF honorees.$0$0
Because there are many more heroic and patriotic Oklahomans deserving of significant recognition, OKMHF established The Hall of Honor in 2023 to expand the impact of the Foundation and honor these veterans. The Hall of Honor currently has 16 regional chapters. As of the end of 2024, 90 veterans have been inducted in the Hall of Honor by their respective chapters, and heroes are inducted monthly.$0$0
OKMHF now is enlisting young people throughout the state to honor veterans through a special program known as Honors Campaigns. These are community-based efforts to recognize local military veterans that are organized and managed by middle- and high-school students. Also, OKMHF and the Oklahoma CareerTech Centers have partnered together to provide a student competition that documents Oklahoma veterans service in high quality short films. In 2024, 8 high school students were awarded in the annual Oklahoma Veterans Film Competition. Secondary and post-secondary students throughout the state will join with veterans to film and produce their military stories for entry into the Veterans Film Competition$0$0

IRS990EZ/ProgramSrvcAccomplishmentGrp/DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt0The OKMHF Board is comprised of dedicated volunteers who believe in honoring the extraordinary and/or heroic actions of our service men and women who have an Oklahoma connection. From 1999-2024, 247 individual Oklahoma heroes, and 9 units and organizations, have been inducted into our Hall of Fame. There are 163 individual officers, 70 enlisted men, and 2 civilians. Honorees from the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force are represented. They also include 2 NASA pilots, a Frontiersman, and 2 Army Nurse Corps veterans. 35 are recipients of the Medal of Honor; 28 men received 30 Distinguished Service Crosses; and 20 are recipients of the Major General Douglas O. Dollar Distinguished Public Service Award. Sometimes a unit is given recognition, such as the 10th U.S. Cavalry Regiment 'Buffalo Soldiers' (2002); the Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore (2005); ROTC's centennial (2016); the Oklahoma National Guard (2017); the Sailors of Battleship USS Oklahoma that perished at Pearl Harbor (2018); and the Oklahoma WWII Rangers (2024). Several Native American Tribes have been recognized in the form of individual servicemen, as well as groups, including the Comanche Code Talkers (2011); the Choctaw Code Talkers (2012); and the Pawnee Code Talkers (2015) for their service during WWI and WWII.
IRS990EZ/ProgramSrvcAccomplishmentGrp/DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt1The Oklahoma Military Heritage Foundation has formed an important partnership with the Oklahoma History Center. Without this partnership we would not have a base of operation and a permanent site within the Oklahoma Military History Display Area. The Oklahoma History Center provides space for meetings of the OMHF Board and logistical/event planning assistance. The Oklahoma History Center established a permanent home located in the military display area to present all the inductees of the OKMHF. This includes an interactive electronic display 'kiosk' featuring the stories of each member of the Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame. Recognition received at the event from government officials/dignitaries, and from the press are permanently recorded and displayed for public viewing. The Foundation's website at okmhf.org is continually updated and includes access to the interactive and searchable database of all OKMHF honorees.
IRS990EZ/ProgramSrvcAccomplishmentGrp/DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt2Because there are many more heroic and patriotic Oklahomans deserving of significant recognition, OKMHF established The Hall of Honor in 2023 to expand the impact of the Foundation and honor these veterans. The Hall of Honor currently has 16 regional chapters. As of the end of 2024, 90 veterans have been inducted in the Hall of Honor by their respective chapters, and heroes are inducted monthly.
IRS990EZ/ProgramSrvcAccomplishmentGrp/DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt3OKMHF now is enlisting young people throughout the state to honor veterans through a special program known as Honors Campaigns. These are community-based efforts to recognize local military veterans that are organized and managed by middle- and high-school students. Also, OKMHF and the Oklahoma CareerTech Centers have partnered together to provide a student competition that documents Oklahoma veterans service in high quality short films. In 2024, 8 high school students were awarded in the annual Oklahoma Veterans Film Competition. Secondary and post-secondary students throughout the state will join with veterans to film and produce their military stories for entry into the Veterans Film Competition
