Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 4

During the tax year, there were changes made to the organization's bylaws. The changes made reflect the shift in organization structure and the move from a managing partner to ceo.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 8B

The campaign for great public schools does not have any committees that can act on behalf of the governing body.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

Form 990 is prepared and the draft is submitted to the management team. Upon submission of the draft, the form 990 is reviewed by the cfo, ceo and board before the return is filed with the internal revenue service.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Each director, principal officer and member of a committee with governing board delegated powers shall annually sign a statement which affirms such person: has received a copy of the policy, has read and understands the policy, has agreed to comply with the policy, and understands the corporation is charitable and in order to maintain its federal tax exemption it must engage primarily in activities which accomplish one or more of its tax-exempt purposes.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

To ensure the corporation operates in a manner consistent with social welfare purposes and does not engage in activities that could jeopardize its tax-exempt status, periodic reviews shall be conducted. The periodic reviews shall, at a minimum, include the following subjects: - whether compensation arrangements and benefits are reasonable, based on competent survey information and the result of arm's length bargaining; - whether partnerships, joint ventures, and arrangements with management organizations conform to the corporation's written policies, are properly recorded, reflect reasonable investment or payments for goods and services, further social welfare purposes and do not result in inurement, impermissable private benefit or in an excess benefit transaction. The compensation is approved by the board, which is composed of individuals who don't have a conflict of interest and the determination if adequately documented concurrently with making that determination.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

The campaign for great public schools makes its governing documents, conflict of interest policy and financial statements available to the public upon request.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Campaign for greater public schools is a separate entity as defined under section 501(c)(4) of the internal revenue code. Campaign for greater public schools believe that their operations are consistent with the nature of their exemptions granted by the internal revenue service. No provision for income taxes is required for the year ended june 30, 2024, as the organization had no significant net unrelated business income. The organization follows the authoritative guidance relating to accounting for uncertainty in income taxes included in fasb accounting standards codification topic 740, income taxes. These provisions provide consistent guidance for the accounting for uncertainty in income taxes recognized in an entity's financial statements. The organization performed an evaluation of uncertainty in income taxes for the year ended june 30, 2024, and determined that there were no matters that would require recognition in the financial statements or that may have any effect on its tax-exempt status. As of june 30, 2024, the statute of limitations for certain tax years with the u.s. Federal jurisdiction or the various states and local jurisdictions in which the organization files tax returns are open for examination; however, there are currently no examinations pending or in progress. It is organization's policy to recognize interest and/or penalties related to uncertainty in income taxes, if any, in income tax expense.

PART XII, LINE 4B - OTHER ADJUSTMENTS:
