The organization is formed to bring together a diverse community of north american industry, policy, nonprofit and academic leaders in intentionally intimate settings to engage in meaningful conversations about north america's energy and water future; and to educate individuals about issues concerning energy and water and provide resources to challenges facing the future of energy and water. The organization provides a forum to engage in independent, nonpartisan research, discussion, and collaboration on public policy matters and initiatives concerning energy and water. The organization may engage in other activities as allowed under section 501(c)(3), which are related to or further its primary purpose.”

“The organization launched the western energy caucus (wec) in 2024, a new program service not previously reported on prior form 990 returns. The wec is an educational forum that brings together state legislators from eleven western states (arizona, california, colorado, idaho, montana, nevada, new mexico, oregon, utah, washington, and wyoming) to discuss complex energy challenges facing the western united states. The wec provides nonpartisan educational programming that enhances understanding of regional energy issues among legislators who work on energy policy in their respective states. The caucus includes equal representation from both major parties to ensure diverse perspectives and collaborative dialogue.”
