“Other expenses include an administrative cost of 8% of qualifying donations equaling $8359.00 to be used to cover expenses paid for by the Board including liability insurance, web site design and annual cost of maintaining. Additional expenses include our ongoing outreaches and events including Overdose Awareness Day, Steps of Change event held for families, children and those impacted by substance use,, Christmas in Recovery purchasing gifts for kinship children, those in recovery for their children, and others designated to be in need for the holidays. The names are provided by local agencies and given to OhioCAN to fill in the needed items. Newark Homeless Outreach holds a weekly outreach provided a hot meal to those in need in Newark Ohio. This includes the unsheltered, those struggling with substance use, families in need and anyone needing assistance. In addition to food, hygiene items, clothing and first aid kits are passed out. Ninas Closet provides kinship families clothing, toys and items needed for babies and children of those incarcerated, death or unable to properly raise their child. Many items are donated but Ninas closet holds monthly events for children and support for the families involved. Events are Christmas gifts collaborating with local police, sheriff and Job and Family Servies. In addition, Halloween, Easter, annual tea party and summer gatherings are also provided for the families and children. In Stark County we provide hot sandwiches at the Canton City Health Department SWAP syringe exchange program. In addition, we provide hygiene, snack bags and seasonal personal items as needed. The total amount spent to pay for events, food, supplies and various miscellaneous items equals 46,799.00 In 2021 OhioCAN purchased property in Newark Ohio where we hold the weekly Newark Homeless Outreach providing the hot meals. The address is 184 East Main St, Newark, OH 43055. The property was purchased through a community fundraising event and local agencies sponsorship.”
