Form 990, Part III, Line 4A

Our elementary program 2nd-5th grade meets one to two times per week after school, providing students with evidence-based tutoring, mentoring, and early college and career readiness support. Sessions include mental health mini-lessons, individualized tutoring with culturally relevant texts, regular communication, time with trained counselors, and collaboration with families. Our staff work closely with students and their families to set and pursue personal and academic goals, which continue thoughout their journey with charting careers. Upon completing the elementary program, students transition into our middle school program, which also meets twice a week after school. These sessions focus on mental health, prevention, building trusting relationships, community engagement, and college and career readiness. Middle school students also connect with their individual mentors once a week and participate in our highly successful career day at annapolis middle school. They attend various field trips, including college visits, theater performances, and museum tours, all designed to close the opportunity gap. Our staff maintain weekly outreach and connections withfamilies and host quarterly family event nights for additional support. Our high school program continues to provide individual mentoring, college, visits, career panels, mental health support, and weekly college and career readiness education. Students also receive professional college and career advising, along with scholarship opportunities. Quarterly family nights remain a key part of the program to ensure ongoing support. The funding we are requesting will help support three mission critical staff positions our executive director, director of education, and one of our community impact specialists. Key achievements in the fy24 school year awarded over 21,000 in scholarships to sixteen post secondary scholars, two scholars began their senior year at a four year university, and one scholar graduated with a n associates degree, 100 of middle school scholars passed language arts, math, science, and social studies, with one scholar successfully completing summer school, 100 of elementary scholars passed all classes, with an average 96 attendance rate and measurable growth in reading skills for all students. Scholar and family feedback from our fy24 annual scholar survey 100 of scholars felt supported in learning personal responsibility such as tracking their grades and seeking help from teachers, 96 felt more successful at school, 96 were introduced to at least one new trusted adult for guidance and support, 100 of scholars believed their mentor encouraged them, and 100 found their mentor to be dependable. From our annual parent/caregiver survey 100 felt encouraged by charting careers and believed the organization advocated for their children in school, 100 felt encouraged and learned how to track their childs academic progress, 89 reported improved relationship with their child, 89 felt charting careers helped them work toward their own personal goals. Through our holistic approach, charting careers continues to create life changing opportunities, helping students and families build brighter futures.
